Hello all,
I am currently employed as a scanner operator / colour corrector for the print industry, 8 years so far.
I am looking in the future to move into scanning/colour correction
for film and video, ( Lustre comes to mind, Toxik maybe?)
Now with all different types of bit depths, luts, log to linear conversions,
I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direrection,
i.e. Web links that give a great desciption of all of these
yes i have done a google search but nothing good has come out of it.
Or any books that delve deeply into this subject
Even better a couple of days sitting in the corner looking over someones shoulder.
Im sydney based.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Jason.

Call the Dave's with Discreet. AU
Buy them a beer and.
They will tell you who has boxes and who is looking for assistants.
Work cheap and learn.
Then leave that place and triple your money.

This is a good primer.

If you really wan't to learn about Color Correction for Film, I recommend:

Digital Intermediates for Film and Video
by Jack James.

It's a hefty book, but if you read and retain, you will have a very good understanding of the process.

I can't afford a Scratch system right now, but I am interested from a tech standpoint as to how it works. Do you pretty much have to see a demo in person to see how the workflow is? They're website has some screencaps but I'd love to see some video of what it does.

I have DVD training for it if you would like to order.

Since its legally theres i have to ask them about it. But im sure nacho would send you a copy of it at no charge. Where i have to run it through the computer system serialization process which i think is a minimum of 5-10 bucks. (Dont ask, its a long story)

If you want you can email me at chris@cmivfx.com and i can get a for built for you.
