Hi all...

I have shake running on G5 2x2ghz with 8gb ram. When I am using the clone tool/paint tool/quickmask, on a 2K dpx sequence, every brush stroke i make, system takes time to generate the stroke on the screen. So i am forced to wait till each stroke appears on screen to proceed with the next screen. Can anyone please suggest a method to solve this problem... all suggestions are appreciated..

If you have your node not loaded up in your viewer, but still loaded up in your Parameters 1 (and thus the on screen controls for your paint node) you can paint all the way you want without having to wait for a refresh. The bad thing is though you won't be able to see how much you're painting untill you update. So you end up going back to edit your curves...

What OS X version are u using? And what version of shake?
When I got the Shake 3.5 running on Panther (10.3.4) I saw a great imrpovement of performance on every kind of process...

I usually use update mode 'Release' when I paint. Works pretty well. It's still far from realtime, but the paint node has saved me a lot of times.

Remember that the paint node will break the tile based rederings in Shake, and the DoD, so place the node at a strategic place in your comp.
