how can I achieve that 3d setup?

3 layers
first two w/ either alpha channels or masks of some sort.

well its very easy
make a new composition (3D)
make threee layer or import 3 files with Alfa channel

then change the value of each layer to Z axis -20,-40,-60 then
chaneg the camera view to prespective and click on (v) key on key board rotate it, you'll c that things on you combustion
