Well, first things first.... IT WORKS!!!!
if any cares (i do).... we've found out how to succesfully and reliably import native DV quicktime files into smoke and flame from our final cut pro mac
the method doesnt totally make sense to me (hopefully someone will understand better and explain it for us all) but it DOES work
Here's an example of a workflow that WILL work:
1. Capture DV over firewire into final cut pro
2. select all the clips you have captured in your bin
3. do a batch export
4. keep "item settings"
5. check "Make Self-Contained"
6. DO NOT CHECK "Recompress All Frames"
For some reason.... the files that are created when you first capture the DV over firewire WILL NOT import into smoke or flame.... but if you export the files (supposedly this is NOT recompressing them) smoke/flame WILL import them
just something interesting i thought everyone might like to know
:)
