Technicolor, a worldwide provider of services to the entertainment industry, has formed a new and exciting Joint Venture Technicolor (Beijing) Visual Technology Co. Ltd. in Beijing, China. This new facility is providing high-end Visual Effects and post-production services to both the local feature film market in China and also to clients throughout Asia.
We currently have opportunities in our company for qualified, motivated artists who are willing to relocate to Beijing and join us in this amazing adventure.
1) Lead Animator
The Lead Animator is responsible for the supervision of the 3D animation team. Reporting to the VFX Supervisor and in collaboration with the Lead Compositor, the lead will define the process and direction of all 3D elements required in creating the visual effects for feature film projects.
Responsibilities:
Work with the VFX Supervisor and VFX Producer developing budgets and schedules.
Supervise the 3D team through all aspects of production, from modeling and animation, through to lighting and rendering.
Support the team of 3D animators through mentoring and education.
Determine the most efficient and effective way to achieve the required effects.
Solve Junior Animators problems and issues, both creative and technical.
Work with the VFX Developer and TD's to develop new processes to develop new techniques and streamline the creation of the required effects.
Required Skills / Experience:
ï¬Demo reel demonstrating the firm understanding and thorough knowledge of
feature film CG effects.
ï¬5+ years of experience in a feature film production environment.
ï¬Maya and Mental Ray experience preferred, but experience with other
software is OK.
ï¬Ability to work well in a team environment with prior team leadership
experience.
ï¬Problem solving ability to predict and solve any problems that arise with
the assigned tasks.
ï¬Experience working with Directors and Clients.
ï¬Communication skills that go above and beyond the call of duty!
ï¬Able to manage time with due consideration to the budget and production
schedule.
Desired Skills:
ï¬Thorough understanding of the VFX process including on-set and other
aspects of post-production.
ï¬Drawing and story boarding skills a plus.
ï¬Mandarin and English speaking definitely and asset, but not required.
ï¬Patience, patience, patience.
ï¬Walk, talk and chew gum . . . all at the same time.
2) DI PRODUCER
Responsibilities:
ï¬Create daily work orders
ï¬Manage clients elements through facility
ï¬Actualize daily work orders
ï¬Communicate timely schedules to clients
ï¬Communicate potential overages to clients
Required Skills / Experience:
ï¬Ability to deal effectively with Film makers
ï¬Excellent communication skills
ï¬5 years above experience in film post-production
ï¬Prioritize time & resources under heavy work load
3) System Administrator
Responsibilities:
ï¬Maintenance more than 30 workstations which running linux and windows xp OS
ï¬Maintenance the SAN and NAS storage system
ï¬Maintenance the critical network
ï¬Maintenance the tape library
Required Skills / Experience:
ï¬Formal Education
Bachelor degree or higher in computer science area or advanced IT degree
ï¬Language
Fluent in Mandarin. Must have functional English (written and spoken)
ï¬Work Experience
3-4 years experience as systems administrator for large site with over 30 systems
Experience maintaining large-scale storage systems (NAS)
Experience maintaining critical network user services (domains and applications)
ï¬Technical Knowledge
Good knowledge of Linux (Redhat), Unix (BSD), Windows XP and MacOS
Basic knowledge of PC workstation hardware maintenance
ï¬Familiar with setting up, troubleshooting and maintaining:
Gigabit networks (TCP/IP)
Standard network file transfer protocols (NFS, CIFS, FTP,
Network domains and services
LTO3 and other data tape formats
4) Data I/O Engineer
Responsibilities:
ï¬Ingest media using any one of several hardware and software platforms for network artist access.
ï¬Reading and writing of data to various formats (SAIT, DTF2, LTO).
ï¬Organization of data files as they go through the DI process.
ï¬File renames, renumbers, and conversions.
ï¬Writing shell scripts to automate and simplify processes.
Required Skills / Experience:
ï¬Bachelor degree or higher in computer science area or advanced IT degree
ï¬More than 3 years experience of the data management on linux or unix
ï¬Experience in Animation/post production company is preferred
ï¬Familiar with the different tape/image file format
ï¬Familiar with linux/IRIX command line operation
ï¬Ability to program in c++, java, linux Redhat
ï¬Familiar with windows and MAC OS
ï¬Functional English (written and spoken)
ï¬Ability to work alone under pressure
ï¬Willingness and ability to continue study
5) Compositors - Positions open for various levels of experience
Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Compositor the Compositor is responsible for
seamlessly integrating elements from various sources including live-action
plates and CG elements into a final photo realistic shot. Works within a
very collaborative team environment that encourages open communication and
knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities:
ï¬Communicate and collaborate with the Lead Compositor and other members of the VFX team.
ï¬Blue/green screen matte extraction.
ï¬Integrate CG and live action elements seamlessly with background plate.
ï¬Enhancing, extending and duplicating elements in a photo-realistic manner.
ï¬Foresee, troubleshoot and communicate potential problems.
ï¬Seek out new techniques and processes which help to increase efficiency
and enhance the overall look of a shot.
ï¬Some tracking and rotoscoping duties as required.
Required Skills / Experience:
ï¬Junior: 2-3 years experience, preferably on feature films.
ï¬Intermediate: 3-5 years experience, preferably on feature films.
ï¬Senior: 5+ years experience, preferably on feature films.
ï¬An eye for composition, lighting and colour with respect to
photo-realistic integration.
ï¬Ability to work in a collaborative Team environment.
ï¬Strong problem solving skills.
ï¬Highly detail oriented.
ï¬Demonstrated ability working with Shake, Nuke and/or Combustion.
ï¬Strong communication skills, with the ability to take and apply direction.
ï¬Effective individual time management skills with respect to sensitive
deadlines.
Desired Skills:
ï¬Mandarin and English speaking definitely and asset, but not required.
ï¬Fine Arts and or photography background a plus.
ï¬Willing to relocate.
ï¬Runs with scissors. (Senior positions require running with Shears!)
