    Default Keylight Spark on IFF

i am wondering if anybody here has a good flow of how to integrate the
keylight spark in your compositing pipeline.
i currently use it kind of awkward and thats really the only way i can describe
it s integration in my batch schematics.
i pipe the matte out of keylight into action and use it as additive keyer
the same way ultimatte spark was used back when the chicks still dug it..
i feel that the current keylight spark is lacking some inputs like the one
available with shake. (both holdout matte and garbage matte)
i can post a batch of how i use it if anybody cares LOL

    anybody found better workarounds ?

    Default keylight in IFF

    Hi,
do you use the front (Fill) from keylight as well?
I'd render (pipe) the Fill out on black and use it in combination with the key, treat it as premultiplied (use additive keying).

    thanks for the reply.
thats pretty much what i end up doing, and i get really good results but
it seems that with the lack of flexibility (missing inputs on the keylight node)
using the master keyer is more tempting since its integrated into action.

    Hi Wolfgang,

There is a matte input to Keylight on FFI. It's a single input and can be used either as a hold out matte to firm up the foreground or as a garbage matte to pull through the background. Best though to use it as a garbage matte and use Keylight to create a hold matte internally using the second edit group controls.

But the later version of Keylight on Shake has separate inputs for the hold-out and garbage, instead of a single input, as you mention. We're working hard to bring all our Keylight ports up to date, but I can't promise it in the near future.

If you want some examples on how to use the Keylight matte input, let me know and we can put together some example trees for you.

    thanks for posting.
i think what makes it harder for me to use keylight in flame is i got so used
to multiple mask inputs on my shake and the flame batch schematic is not as
fast to work in as shake. so if you want to share some of your work flows it
    can only help me.

i am going to send the folks over at the foundry an email and see if they plan on maybe adding some node inputs in our lifetime.

    take care
