License transfers used to be very expensive in the past. I don't know what current Autodesk policy is... But from now on, it is a must to be on support, for many many reasons. Get regular upgrades, get support for new file formats. These days, every version, flame supports new file formats.
Does anybody have the luxury to say, "Our flame can not work with arriraw, but the other shops can."? It was the old days, you had a digibeta, and anything else wasn't needed... You could stay on your version for 3-5 years, and could love your sgi box. These days, even 5 months is slow for an update.
So my suggestion, whatever you do, don't buy a flame, which you can not upgrade.Kuban Altan

We got a flame 2009 license and HP box for sale.
Flame 2009 to Flame 2012 software upgrade cost: € 38.400.
non-original owner fee is € 11.800 should be added to the above.
tot: 51k €
Buying a new flame 2012 license (from scratch) is €85,200 excluding the hardware.
So for somebody buying a new flame our license is worth: 85,2k€ - 51k€ = 34,2k €
We are willing to sell this for 24k € further more if wanted we can do the upgrade for you in our name then you save another 11.800€.
Please send an email to info at syndicate dot se if this is interensting for you. The license is ready to ship pre chrsitmans... i.e next week.
If you buy it before new year we give you the HP box included in the deal.
