Cool new icons or 'skins' for Flame/Flint (flame)
[ Contribute A Tip ] [ Tips and Tricks Home ]
Rob Wright has been a discreet fire user for quite awhile, but only when he started using flame (now flint), did he think that his batch and action trees were hard to read -" everything looked the same (now where is that light?)". Rob wondered if it would be better if the buttons could be color-coded to indicate what type of process it was, or maybe use icons instead of just the hard-to-read type. . .
A complete set of icons is provided so you can download and install a new set of icons for your Flame/Flint! Added: September 17th 2005 Submitter: Rob Wright Score: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hits: 9015
Rob Wright. I just wanted to make the flame icons easier. One of my colleagues at CNN (Peter Knudsen) made a couple of crazy icons and he inspired me. So I had to attack the entire set of icons. I wanted to make the gui not only a little bit cooler looking, but actually to make it more functional. Anyway, it didn't really take too long. Its just a sgi file circle with matte that is 64 x 64. It took a total of two days to make them - just downtime between projects. I am sure there are a few icons that I may have missed. I certainly would encourage anyone who would want to add to or change them. Who knows, maybe we could have multiple-themed sets in the future? ![]() This is an unsupported trick, it should work without any problems - but please backup your /menu/icons directory. To install, click to download the icon set copy the /menu/icons directory in your home directory and rename icons_old (in case you want the old set back!). Copy the downloaded folder into /menu directory and enjoy. NOTE: added 11/13/2005 - There are additional icon sets in an older tip here and in the forums here.
