Dynamic Industry Players Excite Digital Intermediate Market with R-evolution

MIAMI — April 7, 2004 — DIP R-evolution LLC today announced the formation of its digital intermediate company in Miami Beach, Fla. Founded by long-time industry players, Nacho Mazzini, former president and CEO of Lulamoon Entertainment, and Gerk Huisma, former president and CEO of Assimilate BV, DIP R-evolution’s primary goal is to offer a complete workflow solution to the post production industry, that allows directors, directors of photography and visual effects artists to maintain complete control over every aspect of a production’s creative process. DIP R-evolution’s secondary goal is to have a wicked good time in the process.

“DIP R-evolution is about supplying amazing products, working with outstanding people and having a lot of fun,” said Nacho Mazzini, co-founder of DIP R-evolution. “Our artist-driven technology and entertaining approach is going to create a lot of waves in the industry this year. It will all kick off with one brilliant company and product launch party at IBC 2004.”

Running on commodity hardware, DIP R-evolution’s premiere product is a highly interactive image-processing program designed to make digital intermediate work more cost effective. By combining 2K real-time playback with correlating elements from all resources of a facility, and providing the essential tools to keep productivity high and the creative process flowing, it is more than just an application. It’s an environment where the whole movie, a sequence, or just the elements of a visual effects shot come together for review and refining, no matter how or where they were created. With an active beta program in process, the product has already been used to finish full-length feature films within key beta sites in several countries.

DIP R-evolution acknowledges the importance of getting a new graphical interface adopted by the artist community. To make it easier for artists to become familiar with the product, DIP R-evolution is releasing a limited version of the software to freelancers, which will enable the R-evolution to take place through hands-on experience.

DIP R-evolution continues to recruit loyal members to the R-evolution mission. Its growing cast of company characters includes:

Nacho Mazzini
Over the past 14 years, Nacho has worked at Softimage, Intergraph Computer Systems, SGI and 5D Solutions, and established valuable relationships with the key players of the TV/film/entertainment markets worldwide. Nacho is a firm believer of the “artist approach” and is also known for his “Have Fun” IBC Sunday night parties.

Gerk Huisma
Gerk has more than 18 years of experience in the TV/film/entertainment markets and developed a variety of graphic interfaces used in 3D games and 3D virtual environments, to full-blown visual effects boxes for film post-production. Gerk is best known for being the main programmer behind 5D Cyborg and 5D Commander.

Peter Fuller
Peter recently joined the DIP R-evolution team and brings with him an extensive knowledge of the film postproduction industry. With Peter on board, DIP has found the key person to make the R-evolution happen in the Los Angeles region. An industry guru with more than 22 years in the industry, Peter brings with him experience from companies such as Quantel, Snell & Wilcox and 5D. Over the years, Peter has built trusting relationships with key facilities in the visual effects and digital intermediate communities. Peter is best known for his honest and down-to-earth approach.

Leo Lovera
Leo, artist extraordinaire, is part of an A-Team of artists who will learn, offer suggestions and support the product. Lovera, owner of Moving Forward Studios, based in Miami says, “It’s been a lot of fun getting involved with DIP since the beginning. I have never seen so much passion or enthusiasm for creating something new. Best of all, they really do listen!”
