The MKIIs downfall is the 30fps, it really shows in that La Foret piece. Canon are trying to protect their high-end video stuff, whereas Nikon have nothing to protect. I expect Nikon to be the groundbreaker in this medium and expect them to develop it further as they seek to increase their market share with better video functions. I really doubt that, specially since he took those images off the Red site just after he probably saw Vincent Laforet short done with a MKII. Not to mention that he seemed pretty sure that Canon with all their knowhow wouldn’t be able to pull something like that out.
