the rc #101: The Alexa Ep: It’s all about story

In this special episode we swing from camera tech to focus on story, shot design, lighting and production issues.

We have two special RED ROOM interviews:

Anna Foerster was Director of Photography on the brilliant Anonymous – one of the first films to shoot on the Arri Alexa. After much testing, Foerster decided to shoot on the Alexa when the camera was a mere prototype.

Gareth Neame is Managing Director of NBCUniversal’s TV production in the UK, expanding on his previous role as Managing Director of Carnival Films, the independent production company Neame sold to NBCUniversal in 2008 who make Downton Abbey.  The lavish Downton Abbey is one of the most successful series in the UK. Series One was shot on the D21 but for the second series the production decided to move to the Alexa. We had a chance to talk to him at the recent Screen Producers Association Australia Conference (SPAA) in Sydney.
