After Effects

Adobe has licensed the foundry’s advanced image processing technology for full integration into After Effects 7.0 professional edition which it launched this month.

The Foundry has been developing plug-in visual effects for Adobe customers for over five years. In addition to a range of After Effects plug-ins available through The Foundry, Adobe has included Keylight, an advanced blue-screen keyer, in After Effects Professional since version 6.0.

Dr Bill Collis, at The Foundry added “We are delighted that Adobe have chosen to incorporate our advanced image processing technology into After Effects. The team at Adobe are always very enthusiastic about the technology that we develop here at The Foundry, we hope to continue to provide innovative solutions for After Effects users for many years to come.”

Kronos uses The Foundry’s advanced motion estimation technology to build in-between frames in a sequence. Kronos can be used to speed up or slow down an image sequence. The latest version of Kronos allows foreground mattes to be supplied to give tight crisp edges on retimed objects.

The Foundry’s Kronos forms part of Furnace, a sophisticated collection of advanced image processing tools. Furnace is now deployed by the world’s leading post production facilities including Double Negative, Rhythm & Hues, Weta Digital, Pacific Title and Art Studio, Moving Picture Company, Cinesite, UK, Framestore CFC, Animal Logic, InCase and Gray Matter.

The Foundry products have recently been used by digital artists on a wide range of features including; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Batman Begins, King Kong, and Harry Potter.

LA 2006 fxguide live

furnace3/relativeDepthYou have the chance to see all of the technology of the Furnace plugins explained and discussed at a special fxguide live event in Los Angeles on March 2nd.

The event will have not only After Effects, but also Flame, Toxik and Shake running various Furnace plugins. It is an exceptional chance to see just what can be done, how to use these cool image processing tools, and to gain an insight into what technology is used to make the sparks/plugins work. We will break apart the core technologies and explain how the sparks work as well as give cool examples of what you can do.

We have managed to get the event fully sponsored so it is free, but registration is required. Please do not register if you do not think you’ll be able to attend.
