In December of last year, Autodesk announced major restructuring and layoffs effecting their systems division. This week we had the opportunity to speak with key members of the team, including:

Bruno Sargeant: Visual Effects & Finishing Product Manager
Jean-Luc Dery: Visual Effects & Finishing Product Development Manager
Philippe Soeiro: Lead Product Designer for Visual Effects & Finishing
Mark Jaszberenyi: Lustre Managing Director
Filippo Tampieri: Senior Product Architect, New Initatives

We had numerous submissions for questions from our readers — so thank you everyone. What was quite telling is that many questions focused on the premise that things were, in fact, broken in Montreal. From the interview, the participants certainly understand that things needed to be changed…and are looking forward to doing so. What will be interesting going forward is if the changes that were made actually lead to improvements in customers’ minds.

For those of you who submitted questions about specific features or plans, we *did* receive your questions. Regretably, the Autodesk employees were unable to comment on these future features. According to Autodesk, this is due to restrictions placed on publically traded companies in the states….restrictions which were strengthened after several high profile stock scandals over the last several years. Bruno Sargeant addresses this issue in the interview. We have gotten similar responses from other publically traded companies in the past.
