Oregon3D Appointed as Authorized Training Center for Discreet

Only Independent U.S. Training Center to Offer Courses on Discreet flint, flame and smoke

Portland, Ore. – October 7, 2002 – Oregon3D Inc., The Center for Visualization Technologies, today announced that Discreet has appointed Oregon3D as an authorized training center for Discreet 3ds max, combustion 2®, flint®, flame® and smoke®. The only independent training center in the United States to offer courses on Discreet flint, flame and smoke, Oregon3D’s premier facility provides a collaborative learning environment for a variety of courses in 3D animation, special effects, compositing, editing and real-time image generation.

“The people at Oregon3D spent years researching and developing the center before they launched. They wanted perfection and they got it, and they more than exceeded everyone’s expectations. We so are excited to add them to the Discreet Training Center Network,” said Diane Duffey, Discreet’s Manager of Training and Educational Programs Worldwide. “Oregon3D not only fills a great need for training services in the Northwest region, but they are also the only training facility in the entire United States to offer training on flint, flame and smoke.”

Taught by Discreet certified instructors, Mark Noland, Phil Guzzo and industry-acclaimed professionals such as Gary M. Davis, Oregon3D’s instructors bring ‘real-world’ production and problem solving experience to the classroom. Typically consisting of four or five days of intensive, hands-on training, these courses go beyond the theory of operation to integrate course work with real-life storyboarding, postproduction and project management practices.

“It is extremely rare to find a training facility with the commitment of Oregon3D,” said Gary M. Davis, nationally renowned certified Discreet training specialist. “Having had the privilege of training in six different countries, I have seen many different facilities, but none compare with the training center at Oregon3D. It truly is state-of-the-art across the board. Oregon3D is equipped for instruction on literally any graphics application out there….the sky is the limit with a facility like this one!”

Equipped with an SGI® Onyx® 3200 supercomputer, 24 high-end graphics workstations and a six station Octane® systems lab, Oregon3D provides the working environment and equipment used by professional creative artists in the film, game, TV and visualization industries.

“In its trainers, facility, hardware and software, Oregon3D’s goal is to continually be on the cutting-edge of 3D graphics technology which is why we are extremely pleased to be an authorized training center for Discreet,” says Bob Rosenthal, president of Oregon3D. “Our entirely new 8,000-square-foot facility provides students with the opportunity to train in a creative environment on state-of-the-art hardware and software.”
