for 2K work, memory speaking, we recommend at least 2 GB of RAM, preferably 3.
Newer versions of our applications don’t support third-party arrays.

Hi Martin
Isn’t there a problem running flame v6 with more than 512mb Ram?
Would v6 support 3rd party arrays?, .. if so how is it done ?, I remember a thread on flame news called STONE TAX, but still I’ve read a JF reply to post regarding third party arrays in use, and I know of a company who runs Inferno v4 that uses third party arrays and ..I thought this was impossible, I’m not much a techi, is it as simple as buying an scssi raid 0 and plugging it in to your octane, and away you go.. or do you have to pay a fee to discreet for a licence to use it ?
thanks for yor reply

Here, we use Eurologics. You do not have to pay fees to discreet but… you cannot use the background I/O module in Inferno, you can import only one clip at a time from the eurologics, so you may need a full time I/O guy doing imcopys (if you do not already have one)

Also, there is no problem running flame on Octane with up to 1.5 G of RAM, pending an SGI patch which will resolve the issue, and let you install the recommended RAM based on the type of work you do.
