Hi all,
I`ve been tasked with 3d tracking footage ( some bridges over a river filmed from a boat) which which has been filmed in the evening with only weak lillumination from street lights . I was given some test backplates to work with to see if I could do it, I had some success with some shots but others proved to be tricky.
The real footage hasnt been filmed yet so I have an opportunity to be present on location and maybe do something to help me later with the tracking.
My usual tracking experience is with well lit footage with lots of nice features for the tracker to work with, this is new territory for me and I dont know what would be the best way to make my life easier.
I read an artical that mention the use of LEDS as marker points, can anybody explain more about that method?
Thanks for reading

here a link that might prove useful

http://www.starwars.com/episode-ii/bts/profile/f20021206/indexp2.htmlBasically he’s talking about those little LED pocket things. They’re very small but very bright for their size. If you place the requirednumber of them around your scene, you’ll have self illuminating tracking markers. Plus you say scene is very dark, so it should be easy enough to paint them out or key them out. What will help you enormously would be to survey your set/location and place your markers accordingly so that you’re using them effeciently and not wasting markers.
