Hey evryone, i get rather confuse with these conversions. How do u actually convert from full 4:3 PAL to 16:9 in order to dump to a Digi Beta? Is there a standard way of doing it so it can be done repeatedly all the time? Pls elaborate on the steps taken, thanks.
Cheers,

for 16:9 conversion of 4:3 PAL you need to scale y 133% and then you probably need to do some panning to avoid things like heads going out of frame etc. So no way for a high quality automatic workflow.
Hope this helps,

Thanks a bunch. I think i kinda understand a lil’ better now. I’ve been cracking my head as to whether there is a standard way of doing the conversion. Seems like u’ve solved most of it.
So practically i just hav to adjust the frame as to what needs to be seen and how the supers sit in place so it doesn’t get cropped off. Right? It’ll be much easier if the picture had a 185 crop. Thanks again!
Cheers

hth,
