wondering what alternatives are out there to an Accom — use it as part of a network with Flint and Quantel paintbox —- anyone got a PC based equivalent that works for this?? – cheaper replacement if it dies ??

You can take a look at Max-T NAS with HDTV/SDTV I/O plus integratinos with Discreet’s Stone through the XStoner software.
Digital Domain, Assylum and other post houses are using it.
There’s also a PC DDR on Linux called:
Rave HD.
It is developed by Specsoft.
It was used extensively for Starship Troopers 2 since Tipped Studios needed a HDTV I/O server…
