I’m just interested in the speed of that sucker. Motion isn’t a compositing tool, its for motion graphics (which it is very nice for). The techology that is underneath it like what these guys have exposed with plugins, is just really sweet. If your a programmer you should check out all the coreimage/corevideo stuff, it is amazing what you get for free.

Im designing the GUI for Jashaka 3 player which is using the Core Image / video stuff via open source alternatives.

That stuff IS cool… but motion and the way it animates is NOT great for detailed animation. so im not so sure the marriage of “perfection” VS “Design” is going to work with motion as the framework.

I have used motion, AND even done some training for it… but it lacks something…

(But then again, its probably the shake node tree thats lacking.. so lol… we shall wait and see)

yea, they still depend too much on behaviours and keyframes are second hand citizens. They need to make keyframes equally as powerful and add something along the lines of keyframes for the behaviours rather then totally ignoring them.

The tool does need work, but the potential there for both the future of motion and shake next gen is pretty sweet. Everything is xml and all the filters, behaviours, etc… are just a bunch of scripts, not precompiled stuff that you need to know how to write C in order to hack.
