Hey guys,
I’ve been working in Toxik 2009 sp2 x86 trial, on a project using the new .fbx support feature . As a new user there are some things I am sure that escape me, but at this stage I doubt there is something glaringly obvious I’m doing wrong, but I could be mistaken .
I’ve built up a composite and it looks as intended but as soon as I attempt to playback/cache or render in either foreground or background modes I am given various warnings (‘File is not readable’) and fatal errors such as ‘Access Violation’ leading to Toxik crashing .
I’ve been back and forth trying to solve this problem for a couple of weeks now, wondering if I had set up the mediacache incorrectly, or the source was not readable from where it came from .
I’ve exported the model out of 3dsmax 2009 in every .fbx format and encoding type available, including 2010 . If i change the source type in the reaction node from geometry to ‘something’ else like ‘sphere’ the problem stops .
I even tried the trial of Toxik 2009 x86 (not sp2) and on an different computer and the problem was reproducible. I have even attempted to split each of the reactions into separate files to render those and then composite but this did not work either .
My composite is relatively simple, it is made up of a few reaction nodes and some other tools/sparks (Sapphire) to deliver the look I want .
:: One reaction node contains an .fbx with several .png textures piped into it as sources for the different material inputs .
:: Another reaction node is another .fbx geometry used to create engine flares .
:: A third reaction node creates a matte of the .fbx to be used to mask the engine flares and used as a matte for an light wrap effect downstream .
:: Fourth reaction node is an inner normal view sphere used for a skydome for the .fbx model .Each reaction node has a camera that is animated to match move them .
In case I missed anything, I have a link to my threadnought on TheAREA with images if that helps: (note, please ignore the first rendering issues I was having, this was a silly mistake on my part) http://area.autodesk.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/26910/
I am at my wits end with this problem and I would greatly appreciate any ideas or suggestions anyone may have .
