hi
i have a bicubic which twists upon itself with a keyed layer. the matte has a nice soft edge.
the problem is where the bicubic twists, the front face makes a hole in the back face…this is only happening at the immediate turning point for a bout a 10 pixel area. It is as if in this area alone the key is not being respected.
any ideas?
cheers

thanks for the reply
z buffer on and off have the same effect but zbuffer shrinks in the nasty edge slightly.
it’s wherever the bicubic travels over itself it does not allow the section thats further back in z to be seen so it cuts a hole in the furthest section…the size of this hole is linked to the width of the layer though it’s not the layer edge…far from it, it’s nowhere near the layer edge.
here is a still…

look at the lower left hand edge to see the problem …there is no glow or anything this is just a couple of bicubics animated.

April 6, 2006 at 12:10 am #212683RamazanParticipantok well i sort of have a work around but its not as flexible.
i can use geometry and with the sort button on it works fine but i obviously can’t animate it the way i can with the bicubic points. (maybe use deformers???)
actually this is probably the problem, i had similar problems when doing transparency texturing on 3d text in action…So it seems like the bicubic and text gemoetry nodes have no method of doing the sort which you can with imported geometry. They need a sort button!..maybe?
any other ideas? is there any other way in flame to animate/deform a texture in 3d space…say along a path?
i should just do it in max and stop pissing around!

April 6, 2006 at 12:30 am #212688Saran SirikasamsapParticipantits easy to deform a geometry…add a deform node use a high val for latcies so its smooth and warp away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! else do it in max 🙂
April 6, 2006 at 4:40 pm #212685Martin FurnessParticipantI think I remember hearing something awhile back where you might want to turn displacement on and just adjust your Z to like 1 or so. If it alters your comp then slightly use some softness.
April 6, 2006 at 11:24 pm #212687Saran SirikasamsapParticipantthat was me first tot…depending on the thingy i usually move forward in z space like 1 or 2 and then scale back…with z-buffer on.
