Hi all –
I have a reasonably quick way to get boujou camera data into smoke DVE. Thought I would share and I don’t know if it’s been discussed here before.
Save the Boujou export as a flame action setup. All you have to do is open the .action with a text editor, copy the camera data and paste it into a blank dve setup.
Also – Remember when exporting from boujou to scale by 100 for the flame setup.
Action and DVE setup files are almost identical. I’ve gotten in a few situations where a flame artist worked on a project and then it came to me… and I only have smoke. Usually you can poke around and cut/paste keyframe data to work it out.

I’ve tried importing fbx, raw, and 3DS into dve but I haven’t been able to get it to work. That’s why I was poking around in the action setup.
If you know how to get fbx data in to DVE, let me know because that would be the easiest way.

set a layer to geometry & load > fbx, this gives you the option of selecting the camera (needs to be target cam, of course)
