Hello. I am fairly new to the world of 3D compositing. I have worked on After Effects and I am currently expanding my knowledge on Maya and Nuke. I am trying to make an effect on a video of a face. I would like to make the forehead open a little and expose the brain. So far I have motion tracked the face with Matchmover , imported the point cloud in Maya, match the camera with the models of a 3d forehead and a brain behind, distorted the forehead in an animation so that it exposes the brain. I have created a shader network so that the skin matches the video’s lighting.. I am including the images below in a flickr photostream

Think is I have searched all around on how to composite it over my video but I failed to discover any advices. I have tried to use the Nuke’s merge node along with a roto mask to make the edge’s of the 3d image disappear into the video but the whole scene seems unrealistic. I have rendered a multipass exr from Maya in order to help but no luck.. Is my workflow wrong in general? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.. thanks..
