hi out there,
i´m running c4.03 on a dual amd opteron 250, 4gb ram with sata raid 1.5tb. os is xp pro x64 edition sp1. grafic card is geforce 6800.
when working with c4 the viewer diplays artifacs and when you render you got the same artifacs in there to. when you refresh the viewer these strange lines will disapeare but will get back on other frames. so the error is not reproducable. in some cases when you drag the slider the whole machine will freece. sometimes the monitor switches off and the computer will restart by it self.
does anybody have a clue?
thx nanuk

It sounds like graphhics card problem.. you have very nice powerfull machine there , the weak point in your setup, in my opinion is the video card…geforce cards are nice and fast, but the quadro models is were the good stuff is…
try updating the drivers.. or another video card..hope it helps..

It is a cool machine, thanx for that. 😀 And perhaps i will upgrade to quadro 4500. it´s all about the money! 😉nanuk

I have C4 running on my HP 9300 but with a FX 4500 card and I see no issues. In fact even though Combustion is 32 bit I was quite surprised just how fast it is on this machine. I have a dual boot system (32 bit and 64 bit) and it is nice difference when working with the 64 bit boot. The extra RAM is a big plus also!!

Just a thought.

No Alan, i´m not using a stabilze operator. I think it is the driver. I have to check that. Otherwise I have to downgrade to 32bit windows i guess or get a quadro.
Thx Nanuk

July 19, 2006 at 8:20 pm #213253AnonymousGuestI had a similar problem on a workstation… I just installed the latest nvidia driver and it’s fixed… It’s something that happen with GeForce cards… I strongly suggest Quadro cards to avoid problems like that, even the cheapest Quadro will work fine with combustion.
July 20, 2006 at 6:06 am #213257summerJParticipanti did build it by myself, but in never had problems with it. but i will get a quadro fx soon and then i hope all this problems will be gone. but i will also downgrade to 32bit windows, cause the pc becomes my toxik station and yet this only supports 32bit.
thx for your suggestions nanuk
