Canon 5D Mark 2 lens ?

Hi everybody,

I know this section is dedicated to RED cameras but since it’s the only one about cameras I give it a go.

I’m looking at the Canon 5D Mark2 for its HD movies capabilities.
If I had to buy only 1 lens to start with, what would you recommend to get ?
Which lens would be the best compromise to shoot commercials ?

A 50mm ?
A Zoom lens ?
Something else ?

just one lens eh? .. hmmm well i think you could walk around all day and get great stuff with just a 50mm 1.4..

but its not that practical as an all rounder. however ive shot whole commercials on just the 24 -70mm 2.8?

of course theres other lens manufacturers too so id be looking for around a 28 – 75 or so (obviously wider & longer than that is great too) but above all you want a fast lens. 2.8 / 2 / 2/8 etc is all better than the typical kit lens speeds of 3.5 -56 etc
