Hi Everyone,
I will be posting Cineon/DPX Pro for FCS2 v3.0 this coming weekend.
It is a pretty large re-write of the software, to make it much more efficient
and usable. Here are some of the improvements:
– *Very* Solid Playback. Yup. 24 to 30fps for both HD and 2k frames in QuickTime Player.
(you need a fast machine, and a good RAID. 30fps was achieved with an 8-core Mac Pro, and a SAS RAID. Even MacPro laptops can playback 720p footage, with the internal disk.)– Compressor 3.0 support. You will now be able to export your sequences out to a Qmaster render queue, to quickly process large projects. Image quality is also preserved. The new Cineon/DPX Pro v3.0 now works with 32-bit float pixels, even in Final Cut Pro.
– Timecode support has been expanded to let Frame numbers act as the timecode start time. Both imports and exports can accomodate this ability.
– Improved color correction support when converting YCbCr to and from RGB (Log or Linear) Cineon and DPX frames.
– Cineon and DPX exporters are threaded. This provides a dramatic speed increase, when exporting footage. Instead of using one CPU to do the exporting, all of your CPUs are utilized, improving export times.
– Large sequences with Tens of thousands of frames now load instantaneously. No more delays when loading large ranges of frames.
– Many more small tweaks and improvements. We also have a long list of ideas we wish to add to the product as time goes on.
While we plan on releasing a demo version of Cineon/DPX Pro for FCS2, this weekend, we have a new Release Candidate beta that you can request. Just drop a message to support at gluetools.com
