I was super stumped…. how to achieve a specific alpha technique in Fusion. Maybe someone could skool me! Here it goes:

Imagine a CG render pass; its a car reflection rendered on a white BG with no alpha(alpha area was rendered as all white) I needed to have an alpha from this image( where the BG of the alpha is black and the car area has color info but still transparent to do the overlay or multiply over another image.

I tried so many things but could get exactly what i needed. I ended up using a Luma Key/ Garbage matte method which rotoed the black around the car in the alpha.

There has GOT to be a better way!!! Can you help??Thanks!

Sorry, I wish I could post a pic so you all could see the visual.

hi…i dont work on fusion but maybe u could turn yur cg clip to negative and then monochrome it and u should have a matte…yur background will turn to black and yur reflection should have shades of grey or white depending on what the reflection values are…from there u could colour correct yur matte on luminance to decide treshold….hope it makes sense…like i said i dont work on fusion but im gona look for the site now to find out more…heh…cheers…merv
