Hi all: In the book “Digital Compositing for Film” by Steve Wright, the author mentions using a COLOR CURVE node and an RGB node to do keying; like a luma key operation. In Shake, what would be the color curve node? and RGB node specifically. He also mentions the slice tool node, is the Plotline node is Shake similar? Thanks to all the gurus!

October 13, 2004 at 12:04 am #208817AnonymousInactivehave a look at this tutorial I wrote on building an alternative keyer in shake . In many ways i was inspired by some of the chapters in steven wrights book :
http://www.vfxtalk.com/tutorialfiles/shake/keying_tut.zip
I am using a number of colour operations to construct a keyer and spill supressor just to practise the concepts !
hope this helps

Activate vExpr (luminosity) and get tweakin’. For starters,
set “Type” to linear to make the simple exercises easier. As far as the “rgb node” goes, try using the “reorder” node
and setting everthing the same. In other words, if you want blue,
just set the order to “bbbn”. Note that this is different form using
a monochrome node.Les
