I am working as motion graphics animator and one of the designers allways ask me to put DOF based blur in 3D compositions because he used to work with after effects.
My question is. Is there any way to apply depth of field to a 3D space compostion using 2D graphics? The only I could achieve is to use G-buffer builder but this only works if camera doesnt moves.
One time consuming solution I think could work would be te make the animation of the camera and then make all layers white, attach a light to the camera and use the render as G-buffer for the real final comp.
Any ideas or plugg-ins of thir partys?

there’s a capsule which blurs layers based on their distance to the comp cam. basicly a bunch of expressions. it was done by warren bones.best,

raykThat one should end up in the “tips and tricks” section of fxguide. Sounds like a neat thing to have up the sleeve.
