I need to export 2d particles from Combustion. I have,nt tried yet but, how can i create and render 2d particles keeping the alpha channel? i need to import the result into Flame via ftp and i don,t want to use the keyer for integrate the particles. I want the alpha channel!!!

In combustion, create a composition and then you can create a transparent layer and add a particles operator to the layer…..
You can then create your particles etc…..
Render out the composite with an alpha channel and you’re done….

I just wanted to mention that there is a bug in the forums database, and need you to register to post in the future (after the bug is addressed).
You can just fill out any email, etc, if you don’t wish to be notified when posts are responded to. We don’t use the information for mailings, etc (unless you elect to receive updates).
Thanks…and keep posting.

Sometime I make Particle in Combustion but there is no way with the transparency.. Have you ever seen the particle generated by illusion???
Combustion doesn’t make the same front, so when I use it with the transparency it doesn’t work well. It make funny balls and stranges errors.January 5, 2003 at 12:02 am #206702Splice_MeisterParticipantYup… I know about transparency…..
Create a solid layer apply your particles to the solid layer and then use the “Screen” transfer mode under surface properties and it should compiste fine ontop of other layers…

January 6, 2003 at 6:09 pm #206699MCHEKAParticipantUse screen transfer mode doesn,t work because i need to use the result in Flame. i need alpha information when render in Combustion to get later a front clip and a matte clip in Flame. If the result hasn,t alpha information, i can,t use it.
January 6, 2003 at 11:34 pm #206703Splice_MeisterParticipantTry applying a grey filter to your particles and render that out… Then render out the full colour particles and try use the grayscale particles as a matte for the full colour…

January 7, 2003 at 10:50 am #206707AnonymousInactiveYes, but if I use this solution I cat have the same result like the particle interact directly with a clip!!!
I tried to use “preserve alpha” in particle settings but it doesn’t work… the particle was down!!!
The best way is to use the particle with a front or to use another software like illusion… I suppose.January 7, 2003 at 8:22 pm #206700MCHEKAParticipantI have tried, and the best way is to select new, particles, set the resolution and duration, choose transparency (very important), design the particle and render the result with color+alpha enabled. You have the particle and the alpha or matte ready.
Sometimes, is a good idea disabled the option “intense” in partcle menu. The particle looks very soft and undefinied with this option enabled because in fact you are aplying a transfer mode (add) to the particle.January 8, 2003 at 6:16 pm #206705AnonymousInactive“choose transparency” means set the tansparency of the footage to 0?
January 9, 2003 at 4:17 pm #206698MCHEKAParticipantNO, SET TRANSPARENCY MEANS TO ENABLE THE BUTTON IN THE FIRST MENU, NEW, WHEN YOU ARE SETTING THE PREFERENCES FOR YOUR PROJECT: CHOOSE NEW, PARTICLE, RESOLUTION, DURATION AND, AT LAST, TRANSPARENCY ENABLED.
January 9, 2003 at 7:40 pm #206704AnonymousInactiveBut… it is exactly the same… try to create a new particle with “transparency OFF” and watch into the footage properties the opacity is set to 100. So try to create another particle with “transparency ON” you can see… the opacity is set to 0…. So… There are no difference.
