Hi Ron – I’ve been an editor for years, and I’m thoroughly enjoying your book, as I’ve seen the magic happening for years in Flame sessions, but I never really understood what was going on in the box.
One question about your reference to do compositing work in linear space. Whenever we work in film, we generally transfer a beauty pass for the actual final look of the project, and a “flat pass” for the FX work – as it leaves as much info in the scanned image as possible, correct? Is the different than a Log encoded image?
Or do you mean to start with Log images, then linearize them in your compositing app, and then work with those linearized images?
