I’m working on compositing a green screen set into cg environments. My problem is creating fake shadows that match the keyed actors and props. I have currently been using a corner pin of the alpha matte that I get from the finished key. The problem is that my footage contains actors and props that are at various depths on the set. This creates a problem with the corner pin because it doesn’t correctly line up for all of the different depths of the set. For example: the feet of the actor that is at the front of the stage may be perfectly lined up with the corner pin shadow but the actor that is in the back of the set is not lined up with the shadow that is a ways from that actors feet. What other methods are out there for creating shadows from keys that use a set with actors at various depths?
If you can get each persons key without any overlap just have a different layer for each shadow. This will allow you to move them around and line them up appropriately.
If you are in flame try using an extended bicubic with subdivision or a deform to warp them around to the correct positions.
