We have been using 2008 in production during the beta cycle an we’re very pleased with the new features as well as the re-organization of the UI. Lots to get used to because a lot of buttons moved, but well worth it.

One thing that’s very cool is that a surprising number of the technology demos we saw at NAB made it into this release. A big change from the years past where sometimes it took several years.

    I highly recommend the upgrade.

Flame 2007 to Flame 2008 upgrade is a very big major release. I have seen the beta at IBC07, it is a great jump. If you look to AME teams development speed for the past few years, you would expect flame 2008 features, maybe at year 2010. But they are faster this year somehow, I can say it is worth something like 3 major versions upgrade from 2007 to 2008 🙂

I can’t wait to see what they can do for 2009 release, after dropping irix support. I expect AME to make use of pixel shaders v4, and make the PC platform even faster for some of the current CPU based operations (like CC, blur, keyers, etc..), all of these operations might get lots of boost with a GPU implementation.

I hope you are right, I hope they drop OpenGL and start using Pixel Shading, it would be fantastic, so powerful. I being using it in production too during the beta, and I’m really happy with it. A lot of changes, and you can tell that they are working hard to make things happen. Great work!!

I agree about the beta — I feel it is a solid release as well and am enjoying some of the new workflow.

Buttons moving do take a bit to get used to. 🙂
