I think that the imminent announcement of discreet’s purchase of 5D collosus is a very smart move. I think some of us were getting a little uneasy about the sounds coming out of the discreet camp in the recent past but I think this purchase, the rengineering of inferno and the newly found commitment to combustion gives an awesome range again and a very positive signal to the user base.
If any of you discreet folk drop into the forum, I think you just need a little more work on the 3dsmax posiitoning in the broadcast and film markets. It is a good product but there is still a perception about it that doesn’t do it justice and one or two areas need update.
If you have never seen collosus, catch a demo of it. I think it is the most inovative product to come along for a while. We almost cut a cheque for it on the spot this year! Yep! new development of collosus with inferno/smoke/combustion/max integration has the potential to give us that holy grail of complete end2end workflow.
I am glad to see discreet still hunger!
