I’ve just seen a flame tip in the tips/tutorials section on how to eliminate the problem of bicubic grid clustering when working on small objects and/or multiple extended bicubic layers. The tip uses expressions.

Does anyone know of a way to do this in smoke?

    Thanks

I think the easiset way is to use re-entry.

Take the layer you want to ext-bicubic and re-enter that into a new layer with standard Front . Front and Matte > Matte routing.

Then select your original layer and scale it up so that it fills the raster.
Select your re-entry layer and sclae it back down to normal size.

Turn on your ext-bicubes on the re-entry layer and they should now be of better use to you.
