    Hi There,

I have a feature that I cut in FCP, shot on HDV. I am starting to prep for a color grade session that is happening at another facility. The color facility has asked for a Pro-Res Quicktime of the entire film. They’ll CC it, and I’ll load it back into FCP. My question concerns the dissolves that I have in the film. Here’s my question: Is there any way to prep/export my timeline so that they can get a QT without dissolves (but with enough handles, etc) that I can easily re-import/re-connect in FCP without having to disassemble and reassemble all of the dissolves manually?

    thx,

    Andy

    Hi Andy,

I’m sure you got your answer by now, i apologize.. i just joined.

One thing you can do is media manage your final sequence, then basically you will have a new media folder containing only the shots that are used in your timeline with the appropriate handles to accommodate your dissolves. So now you duplicate your sequences (Seq A & Seq B) and in the new one (B) your remove all your dissolves. Export and EDL or XML depending on what the CC facility needs and give it to them with the new media folder you have, then they have to reconnect the timeline you supplied with the media folder you also supplied them. Finally when they color grade it and send the media folder back, all you have to do is reconnect it with (Seq A) and your done.

    Hope that helps.

    Selim
