Working on a project where I am replacing green screen monitors in the scene. The DP shot 5219 35mm film stock. I am picking up very bad grain when I pull the key (Keylight) causing the initial key to be quite crunchy. Is this the fault of the film stock or the lighting of the scene? If it is film stock, is there a better stock that should be used?

500 speed film is going to noticeably more grainy. You want to use as slow a stock of film you can get. 100 ISO would be much better. you would also want to degrain the footage. you don’t have to worry about how it looks when you are just extracting a good alpha to use.
