Hi!
I’m going to comp some fire into a 3d scene. Basically gonna light a falling coffeebean and then put the whole thing on fire as a reaction to the bean falling…check the previz below

I been surfin’ the net and can’t find the magic “make nice realistic fire” plugin. So is the solution to buy a whole lot of stock footage from artbeats which i really can’t afford!?? 🙁
Saw a commercial a while ago from a spanish guy who comped fire into a car commercial….fire blows out of windows in a city…that looked really nice maybe some of you knows it and knows how it was done?
Any tips/solutions/magic plugins 🙂

I’ve done very realistic fire and smoke with particles in Flame. Get an FBX of the scene minus all geometry except the bean to make it light and have some fun.
The fire couldn’t have been done in the 3D system?

The point of this project is to learn and not to earn money. Therefor me and a friend is trying to create this commercial for fun. I’m going to do all the post and he’s doing all the 3d.
If we make the fire in 3d which program do you recommend?? And most important, will it look real???Currently all 3d is created in 3d max.

Your options are:
1) Get some stock footage of fire elements that somewhat matches the camera perspectives. Does’nt have to be exact.
2) shoot fire elements over black that match the perspectives of the camera from 3D if you have access to a camera. Video would’nt be the greatest but you could mess with it enough to make it look decent.
3) Do the fire in a 3D program. All 3D apps should have ways to do it. It’s the artist and the mastery of the system and its renderers that will acheive the correct realism.
4) Try to do something in a compositing program that has particles and create your own simulation.Maya has fluids and shaders, Max has an atmosphere apparatus but you may need a plugin like Phoenix. Houdini would be good and Lightwave with its voxel technology. Don’t know about XSI but I’m sure it has some comparable thingy.
best of luck and enjoy.

We shot the fire and all the comp was done in Flame

check out the samples.

we have a system that was created like 3 years ago or about then that works great with flocking and everything.
We show you how to build it on the learning particles 1 dvd.
cmivfx.com has a kit of fusion basics, keying and particles. its the smallest kit there.. and has the fire particle item you need on it.
sorry to post this here… but its needed.
