Flame 7 tutorials

Hi all,

I work at a VFX house, and am trying to learn flame. They let me use the boxes at night and on weekends, but there isn’t alot of time where someone can teach me. Anyway, we have a copy of the tutorial manual from flame v7, but we can’t find the CDs with the matching footage. Does anyone know where I could get copies of these?

if you work at a facility with active support you should be able to get those from
the discreet website, client download section.
if i remember this one right those example files used to be on the discreet ftp a few years ago.

Hi,
The way I learn is sit behind a senoir compositor when he/she working. The best thing will be watch the process from edl grad and conform til mastering.
Also try to grab the edl for them by nite, key out the footages to help out or
if the box is free and no job ongoing, try to redo the spot.

You could buy some trainning ddvd as well. cmistudio have some.
try to practice using some of the tutorials from fxguide.
I have a print, graphic design and broadcast background so i try a lot to do what i was doing in after fx or just create some pic.

Every menu in flame is important aabove all ‘editing’ and ‘paint’ at the begining.
Try every submenu or function in those.

I’ve here a problem in conjunction with the tutorial footage… I have the CDs but they are from an old version of inferno… when I now load them, I just see the first and last image… has anyone encountered something like this? I don’t really need them… but if someone knows this problem 🙂

Without opening the file archive, you won’t be able to see all frames. You have to select those clips in archive module, and click on load. You can load those clips into a library or to desktop.

That’s what I’ve done… in preview you see the first and the last frame when scrubbing through and than after opening and loading it you get only the first frame… pretty strange… the discs are from version 3, I’m using version 5…
