Flame 9 Tezro – Disk problem

Hi,

Our company have one Flame 9 in Tezro with Seagate cheetah DL.DAFI – 73GB in IBM chassis from four years ago and since then, we regulary have some problem with the array. In the firt year we lost 5 disks in the array and today past four years we lost 9 disks. We have one Smoke and one Flint in Linux and we never lose one disk in this systems. Any one know if is this normal losing disks frequently in Flame?

Hi Mário,

it might be that the disks are not los but just set to dead. I had a similar problem some years ago and what we did was setting the disks back to well. But you should definitly talk to support about that issue (and how to do this) – especially if there is any possible data loss. If the data is lost anyway it is at least worth a try.

Thanks for you reply. We can’t set it well, the disks stay marked as dead. Our suport and reseller told us this is normal.
