would be a great idea, i would bitch about how i worked my ass off cos of their bad preparations, giving me offline after offline changing and changing, with intense effects having to change and change, a project that would of had 7 days to complete in a calm evironment, crammed in 3, with deadlines with minutes to go scaring me with fines if they dont make it and then asking for more changes after I sweat and make it,.. aaaah, i would not mind if they thanked me for it ,but they didnt they just left with smirks on there faces. ,, BASTARDS …. i feel better now, it would be nice to exchange experiences with other people.
February 27, 2006 at 10:16 pm #212156Nadim ShartounyParticipantThen ‘they’ leave with their smirks… only to come back the next day to make more changes, and the next, and then your weekend is gone – again. Absolute bastards. Before you know it, they are asking for you by name and expecting you to stay back everynight to do the same on every job. Doing a 7day job in 3, hang-on, that’s the joy of being a Flame Op : ) Arse!
February 28, 2006 at 1:43 am #212139KenParticipantWell chaps, the job has got a lot more pressured in the US, as well as us at times being taken for granted a bit like the furniture, but to be honest it still beats stuffing turkeys at Christmas for a living. . . . . . . .! & whilst it still pays well, & beats having to go out & do a ‘real’ job, you may need to find some kind of outlet like a Voodoo Doll or similiar. Of course photocopies & dartboards can be fun too. . . . . . 😆

February 28, 2006 at 4:03 pm #212149bnwParticipantSilly… in the UK “arse!” is used a general expletive, as in, “bugger!” or “crap!”, I don’t think he meant that about you 😉

March 1, 2006 at 9:42 am #212155Nadim ShartounyParticipantI am not calling anyone an arse. Like Loops said, it is a term we use in the UK. I was basically suggesting that it is a catch 22 for us ops, we can’t do anything about it – Arse! We are at the liberty of the client.
I trust that helps clear things up Joey. I wouldn’t dream of dissing another op. (dissing – that’s an Americian term)
😆
March 1, 2006 at 9:58 am #212136BłażejParticipantJust came back from a very relaxed 9 day shoot in south africa.
Im not complaining even if i have to work 24/7 next week 🙂March 1, 2006 at 10:36 am #212127AnonymousInactiveGet out of commercials if you don’t want to have your liberties taken. Find a good reputable features studio and do some work in an environment where you won’t even see a client. Easy as…..
March 6, 2006 at 3:03 pm #212130sarbizaxnobsbParticipanttry being a freelance flame op – then they smirk and they go and they come back and they change things and then when theyve gone you worry about where the next smirking client will come from. but i love it really…
March 6, 2006 at 3:08 pm #212131sarbizaxnobsbParticipantalso T
its a bit early for the pub thats why were in this forum – you wait til six oclock there will be no one here. i guess thats why they made it international to counter the opening hours. mines a pint….

March 6, 2006 at 3:35 pm #212145AnonymousInactiveYou wanna try being an Autodesk MED reseller for laughs ! It’s MY fault when the minibar in their flame suite explodes, a highly detailed quote is always needed 5 minutes before a mangement meeting they’ve known about for 3 weeks. It was obviously MY decision to end-of-life R-series stone arrays, frost, edit and God knows what else, and every second enquiry is from some bloke in Somalia who’s only possession is a sick goat but wants a step-by-step explanation of the DI process. 😕
And there are also bad days !
