Hi guys,
I’m working on Octane 2 Flame 8.5.
I have 20 layers in my comp, and I keep having this message :“Out of memory for images.
Please increase your memory token.”Then Flame freezes and I have to reboot.
I’ve been told that this version of Flame is not supposed to prompt this.
But still…If anybody has a clue to fix that, let me know.
Thanks,
Alfafa.

You can check how much memory you’re actually using by running “gmemusage” from a shell… if you are getting close to using it all, then you need to buy some more RAM – but there’s no point going above 2.5 gigs with 8.5. If there is still a good amount free you could play with the memory settings in the configuration files… take a look at the Memory keyword section in the Installation Guide, it’s a little complicated 😉
Otherwise… get 9.5, which is 64 bit and can use as much RAM as you can shove in the machine, 8 gigs for Octane2 😉

MEMORY : Using 684 MB (or 509 buffers of size 720×486 @ 8-bit).
This is what flame gives you if you dont manually change the value in your init.cfg
remove the # and change the Memory Keyword value…
#MemoryApplication 600

I would have to go in and allocate more memory to my Action module, which in turn would redistribute what my graphics whould do. This worked well if my layer count would get to high, especially when using alot of source nodes.
