We have recently purchased a Flame system on the Tezzro..Just prior to the Linux announcements. We are looking to get a second Flame…Our AUTODESK rep has just given me a quote for the Linux system and it is quite a lot more expensive that the equivalent on SGI ???
My question is… If anyone has had experience on these Linux system…Is it MUCH faster than the Tezzro system.
We have a 4X1GHZ Tezzro with 8GB RAM… We replaced our Octane2 System with this…And this is quite impressive…
Any views on the Linux option would be appreciated.

But to explain the price difference, most of it comes down to the Linux systems requiring 2 hardware RAID storage chassisas opposed to a single software RAID chassis for the IRIX systems. The hardware RAID units are significantly more expensive which explains the price difference.cheers
