Hi all,
Is anyone aware of any possible complications/limitations of taking a flame v9 IRIX archive and restoring it on a flame 2008 LINUX system ? Got a client wanting to kill off his old Tezro “box”, upgrade from v9 to 2008 and port his flame onto the Linux station but has a truck load of old v9 IRIX jobs he has to revisit every so often.
I’ve brought back old Smoke v6 Archives back into 2008 with no problems. Some odd things might happen like history setups acting odd due to bugs in an older version.. but nothing that wouldn’t have already been there.
I have never heard of anyone having a problem between IRIX and Linux. The Flame/Smoke software is still the same.. and they have always tried to keep archives backwards compatible.
cheers BKM.
Thats really my big concern, the IRIX vs Linux thing. I dont know if there any major changes in the file systems to fit the OS. Sure they both use stoneFS, but it’s 3rd party files like QT that might cause things to go pear shaped.
