Frame export to Mac/PC

Hi all….

I run into a bottleneck when exporting frames to a mac/pc all the time. The setup is Smoke on an O2 mounted to the pc via nfs over gigE. I know the gige is slowing it down so I probably have to find a way around that. The real solution is a fibre san but I am looking for a cheaper short term solution. All I can think of is some sort of scsi drive mounted on the O2 that can also mount to a pc. That might not even exist, but any suggestions are welcome.

Smoke on an 02? That must be blazing fast.

We had some problems with the NFS server software on the PC slowing things down.

Might want to check there.

it’s definitely not the gigabit…….. the frame export from smoke/flame has always been terribly slow

Creative Technology is going to have an application for PC/MAC coming out very soon that will allow us to retreive clips from stones, and actually put clips onto stones at extremely high data rates…… Using a standard IDE 7200rpm on a 1.7ghz P4 off the shelf sony box with a gigabit pci card—- ive been able to retreive and send clips to and from our stones at well over 60 frames per sec….. and again, thats just using a standard IDE 7200rpm disk on the pc

something that might make you even happier….. the application is going to be priced WELLLLL below the price point that you may be thinking of….. WELL below

I meant Octane2… I forgot about the O2 workstation. That app sounds very cool. Let us know when it is coming out.
