Hi
I hope that there is knowledge to help me. We have Inferno 4.1 running on 0nyx 2. We have done successfully 8 bit 1920*1080 HD projects in inferno for many years. We have now bought HDCAM SR which can handle 10bit 4:4:4. Our quantel EQ and DVS clipster can handle this new format very well and their HD video I/O works in 10 bit also. But what about our good old Inferno.
First of all I have not been able to input any material to 12bit partition. It says error this partition does not support input. It works greatly with frame depth 24 ( 8 bit ) partition but using that partition I am losing 2 bits! Is that right? Even in input module engineering you have choise to say 10 bit with XTHD board.
1. So..Can I input from 10 bit HDCAM SR to 12bit partition?2. It seems that if I input 4:4:4 HD either from Telecine (Spirit) or HDCAM SR the white and black levels are not right. What do you recommend as workflow when you have to add for example graphics and other material without this headroom in levels? Should I color correct these material into the same levels ( f.e. 10bit 64-940 instead of 0-1023)?
When you put back this headroom material to the tape the levels are right naturally.thanks,
