When importing footage in Combustion from my SATA RAID5 Array (280MB/sek tested reading average) I get about 8 fps previewing directly on the Footage op. Ulysses (free system monitoring devices) shows about 20% on one virtual processors (dual xeon HT 3,2) and about 8MB throughout on the RAID. So the system seems quite bored.
I think about articles i read about disabling hd write cache, disabling “set last file access” in the registry and stuff linke that. Would that do any good?
Footage is tiff seq. Might be lzw compressed. Clearing the cache in combustion doesnt seem to really empty the cache since the RAID doesnt shovel data while playing back again (which happens to be at 25 instantly)
Is there some information out there on how to set up WinXP for use with such apps?
