Hi im new to this forum but curious about Nuke. However im finding it very hard to get any information about this program. The official site is should i say not packed with information….
First off, does Nuke support softimage pic files? if so does it even support softimage Zpic files?
What naming convention(if any) does nuke demand for importing image sequences?
Is it true that it doesnt come with a timeline? doesnt that make handling clips very confusing and unorganized?
The community is obviously really small but is this a trend about to be broken or is it how D2 wants to keep it? (not really that relevant but can
be usefull and also fun…)Is there a irc channel discussing these things?
Thanks in advance!

2. Naming convetion is name.####.extension, but you can use wildcards to read any convention.
3. Handling Clips isnt unorganized, timeline is not present only in sense that you dont have graphical control when doing slips, timewarps, and cuts. You are doing this by imputing numbers and modifiying curves, and not aditional visual cues like in Shake for example. But there is a timeline in all viewers so you can scrub thru frames and keyframes. I am sure that someone will write the timeline in upper sense very soon.
4. The community is small but developers are very responsive, and as the user base will grow, the community will follow.
P.S. Sorry about my written english. I have to practice.

It all sounds very interesting, i guess all i have to do now is wait a while until the new version is realeased. Spoke to someone earlier on irc that was using an earlier (4.xxx) version of nuke and he said that that version didnt read .pic files. Im in no real rush though, just mainly being curious over a program ive heard good things about but cant seem to find much info about for myself. Anyway once again thanks for your reply.
PS. my english is also rather poor but i understood you perfectly 🙂

What i was hoping for was some even more variety with the tutorials.
3 out of 4 of them all delt with the 3d side of Nuke. Since im a user of dedicated 3d programs i dont plan to use that function all that much within nuke. I was most impressed by “throbes” demoreel, great work in there!I guess most of the nuke users are serious workers that dont have that much time to write tutorials etc, except for commercial purposes (I.E CMI)
Looking forward to more info and realeses on the various pages you have
pointed out to me.June 15, 2004 at 3:01 pm #208120AnonymousGuestktb2002 wrote:Yes ive already searched the net extensively and seen all those links.

why? for background setups. take pictures and produce a new environment inside nuke. the filtering is higher quality and you can easily see your result comped.
also, you can now do projections from camera which allows for all kinds of new cool tricks.
