hi everyone, let’s say i simulate and render a white “FumeFX” smoke with its alpha channel from 3ds max , then i import it in NUKE and merge it with a white constant. since both the FG (smoke) and BG (Constant node) are white, for me in order to see the smoke, i want to change the smoke’s color to black to see it on the constant,,, i tried grade node, CC node, i couldn’t find a solution. does anyone know how to do this? thanks in advance…..

    Hi!

The easiest is to use a Grade node with gain=0. Just make sure that the channels=rgb.
You can also do it with a Shuffle node, assigning 0 to red, green, blue.

There are many other options like the Multiply, ColorCorrector etc.
In all cases the alpha channel should remain untouched.

An invert node would flip the image completely so black became white and white became black.

You should unpremultiply the image, then invert only the RGB channels, not the alpha channel. Then premultiply the image again.
