Im thinking of compositing lots of Sony f900 material with 3D additions. But one thing I didnt yet figure out is how to do compression artifacts?
Camera is working 4:2:2 so for sampling artifacts I will try to down size UV channels by 2 and resize back again and recombine with Y. I can even do blur/sharpen to get a bit of ringing, but there is still a bit of that compression artifacts that I dont know how to get.
PS On top of that I got hdw material from Canon camera that I need to do the same thing.
I have seen request like this before, and I still can’t imagine ever wanting to see this effect.
On the flip side, I imagine it is just like video guys wanting to use old scratchy film effects for stuff. It sets a mood. But scratchy film is cool, artifacts are just ugly.
Maybe you could just sequence export your material to jpg at a crappy quality and then reimport.
